Why is Vegas so brown?

Why is Vegas so brown? Because there’s no trees! It’s so dry, barely anything can grow…except the palm trees and pine trees. Why do they grow here? They grow here because it’s so dry and they don’t take much water. I wonder why they don’t take much water?  I think barely anything should grow here because it’s the desert.
